Lifespan Celebrates 10 Years in IT Asset Disposition & Electronics Recycling

September 21, 2012.  Newton, MA.  Lifespan announced today the marking of the 10 year anniversary of its founding as a company.  Launched in September, 2002 in Boston by Dag Adamson, Lifespan has grown steadily in size and scope.

“From the start Lifespan has been focused on providing excellent service and maintaining high standards for data privacy and the environment.  Thanks to a great team, we continue to grow while still delivering on those founding principles,” said Adamson.

After building and then selling a successful web development firm, Adamson was growing restless and considering new business ideas.  Struck by the large quantities of surplus and retired IT equipment generated by corporations, he launched Lifespan in 2002.

At that time, Adamson recognized that technology has a much longer impact on the planet after it is retired from corporate use.   The name Lifespan was chosen to encompass two ways to increase the life of technology.  First, extending the lifespan of working technology by remarketing and second the opportunity to increase the lifespan by recycling the raw materials and keeping the harmful ones out of the environment.

Since that time, Lifespan has played a key role in the development of electronics recycling industry standards, including R2.  The company continues to be a leader in recycling and data security standards.  Adamson currently serves on the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) Task Force to recommend standards for Solid State Drive data destruction.

For the third year in a row, Lifespan has been named to the prestigious INC 500|5000 list of fastest growing companies.  For 2012, the company ranked 15th among Environmental Services providers and 61st among Boston-based companies.

Said Adamson, “Although celebrating past achievements is important, Lifespan is focused on the years ahead.  We will continue to deliver complete IT and Electronic Asset Disposition (ITAD and EAD) services that reduce risk and costs for our customers while enabling them to focus on their core business.”
